Established in 2007, Flametree has quickly become renowned for its award-winning Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines - the two hero varietals of Margaret River. Its aim is to make a range of wines that plays to the strengths of the region and delivers a great drinking experience at all price points. The Towner family source grapes that are perfectly matched for each of the wine styles that they produce. Their esteemed head winemaker, Cliff Royle has made world class wines in the region for many years.
According to him ‘if you get the right varietals on the right sites, you’re well on your way to making fantastic wine’. The whole winemaking team are in close contact with growers and make sure that the fruit achieves optimal ripeness, aroma and flavour development. The result is dense and powerful cabernets that are lifted by Flametree’s quality of oak. Their chardonnays are grabbed by the sun yet maintain their varietal acidity and freshness from the region’s maritime influences. The estate has ranked as a 5* winery by James Halliday every vintage since 2011.
